General Information

Do you have an exciting youth or young adult ministry initiative that could use some funding to help make it a reality? The Eastern Synod has two types of grants available:

General YAYA Grants
Indigenous Reconciliation Action Fund (IRAF) Grants

Please read the descriptions of both types found below and fill out the applicable application form either in hard copy or online. Applications for funding for the following year are always due in September of the year prior so be sure to give yourself enough time to submit the forms.

Be as creative as you can! Tell us about your ministry initiative and how it will impact not only your target audience but the church and local community at large.

No extensions will be granted so please ensure your application is submitted on time.

Project Outline*
Please include your project objectives, your proposed timeline, structure for accomplishing ministry, number of expected participants, the average age-range the ministry aims to meet and the number and frequency of meetings or gatherings.

Evaluation Process*
How do you plan to evaluate your ministry initiative? If you have run a similar project in the past, what was the impact? If you are requesting funding to continue a current project, what will be the increased impact of another year of funding?

For those re-applying:
Please outline in detail your actual expenditures to date, the actual number of participants and whether or not you saw this program as successful. Please also include how you hope this program will be funded in the future.
Please note:
Successful applicants will be responsible for providing to the YAYA Committee, at least one photo of the event / activities, along with an evaluation of the pursued project, with proper acknowledgements and consent for publication purposes, after the event/activities have taken place. The deadline will be the same date applications are due for the following funding year.

Budget*
Provide a detailed budget including the funding requested of YAYA and all other financial contributions secured or pending for the project.
Personnel Needed*
Describe the group of people who will be involved in your project, including a brief description of what you believe they will get from your project. Remember that projects accessing the Indigenous Reconciliation Action Fund must include both Lutheran and Indigenous children, youth, and/or young adults under 35 years old.
Calls to Action*
Describe which of the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada are addressed by your project.
Relationships*
Describe how your project will create long lasting relationships between Lutheran and Indigenous communities, including any follow up activities that will accompany your project.
Land Reconciliation*
Describe how your project establishes a consciousness and respect for land and Indigenous territory.
Partners*
Identify which Eastern Synod partner(s) and Indigenous partner(s) will be involved in your project. Provide a name, email, and phone number for both a Lutheran and an Indigenous contact person that can speak in support of the project. YAYA may reach out to these contact people for further information about your project and partnership
